Adaline Mae, daughter of William and Agnes Sellers McIntyre, was born October 29, 1922, in Fayette County, Iowa. She attended country schools in the county and received her G.E.D. in the early 1970’s. On March 25, 1946, she was united in marriage with Gerald H. Westendorf at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Over the years, Adaline had worked at Bealmer’s in West Union, a café in Hawkeye, assisted with elections, and for the Census Bureau. Shortly after Gerald’s death in 1989, she moved to West Union where she became active in the United Methodist Church, including the U.M.W. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, making blankets and quilts for her grandchildren, raising flowers, camping and fishing, and family picnics.

Adaline is survived by four sons, Roger (Mary Jane) Westendorf of Oelwein, Rodney (Mary) Westendorf of Auburn, Illinois, David (LeAnn) Westendorf of West Union, and Craig (Marcia) Westendorf of Paulding, Ohio; eleven grandchildren, Erin, Nathan, Sarah, Todd, Matt, Jodi, Heidi, Katie, Alisha, Nicholas, and Tiffany; fifteen great grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Smith of West Union; two sisters-in-law, Verla McIntyre of West Union and Laura Westendorf of Spillville; and two brothers-in-law, Darold Martin of West Union and Erv Senner of Hawkeye.
